Cyrus Boger was perhaps the greatest scholar of Boenninghausen's work and this is the fruit of his labours.
This is a re-working and elaboration of Boenninghausen's famous repertory.
1292 pages of text.
A good solid hardback from B Jain of New Delhi
Very popular among the more classically inclined homeopaths
The first version of
Boenninghausen’s reportorial work was published in German in 1833 and in time
was worked upon to create his Therapeutic Pocket Book in 1846 which still sells
to this day. It was used by many of the leading lights of nineteenth century
homeopathy such as Stuart Close and Timothy Field Allen.
In the early twentieth century,
Cyrus Boger decided to work upon this groundbreaking tome and in turn produced
the Boger-Boenninghausen Characteristics and Repertory in 1905. He refined his
own work and the second edition came out in the mid nineteen thirties. .
How is this work different
to Kent’s? It is geared to a way of analysing the case mostly upon general
symptoms rather than particulars. It tends not to focus upon the strange, rare
or peculiar but instead seeks to concentrate upon modalities and the
concomitants.
There is greater weight
given to the pathological and objective symptoms rather than the mentals.
Symptoms are looked at regarding four components, namely their location, their
modalities, their sensations and their concomitants.
This a recent
edition that is compact, weighing half a kilo less than some previous printings, and has had some
extra checking by Dr D.P. Rastogi and Dr V.D.Sharma. Apparently they have made
100 corrections to the abbreviations of the remedies in the repertory which may
not have always been consistent. These are shrinkwrapped and were recently
published by B Jain.
